qii - 帰路と追憶 (On of their softer songs…)
I set off to Tokyo friday night to the first of many great concerts. The venue: Shibuya Plug, the time: midnight, and lineup: a picture of her, qii, nego, and many awesome djs. I went to get engulfed by a picture of her, but the first band qii took me by surprise.
qii’s guitarist destroyed the spotlight with his fast finger picking, qii’s bassist with a laid back deep groove, and the drummer with his punk and post rock influenced beat. I couldn’t understand why 90% of the crowd stood still while a couple of us were banging our heads grinning.
Next, a picture of her took the stage and wrecked it as well. Truely phenomenal, though I wish they had played their whole EP and not just a few songs. Boo…
Talked to the bands later and ‘accidentally’ dropped the ‘A’ bomb (How I’m from America, not…).

Talked to Tono-san (guitarist) and we talked about American fandom and how the drummer was Toe’s roadie. He went wild when he found that he had an American following (even though a lot of it found out about the band through a downloading site). Found out that Tono-san works in securities for a financial firm in the day time and rocks out at night. What the heck? haha

It was weird to meet Ryo (guitarist) after seeing him go wild on stage. He put on black thick rimmed glasses and slicked back his hair like a salary man. He along with Ryuji (bassist) talked about bands in the area and how they’ve been playing together for 2 years. Ryuji said he would be down to jam with me. Maybe some day when I’m better. :D
I enjoyed merchwhoring it up and bought 3 cds and a shirt. Great night in Tokyo. Will do business again A+++++
